* Of course, d2 doesn't save each time you pick something up, so you'll need to either close the game right then (it's a pain, but it's better than losing the item) or use a run counter to see when the save is made (there are some links to run counters stickied in this forum). In the future, you should make backups after you find a good item.* And are you just making a copy of the files, or are you copying the whole save folder to a different device? I use a usb flash drive to backup my files. Keep the character files (and probably make backups), and post in the ATMA/GoMule help thread stickied here maybe silospen can fix your files or at least save your occy. I have tried a complete reinstall but that hasn't worked either.Īny suggestions? The first time it happened was REALLY annoying as I had just picked up the Oculus and have never found it again since despite many months of gaming!!!The second time I lost some other cool items as well, although only a few actual levels of experience as I had relatively recent backups.
WHen i fire D2 back up and go to my character list the character I was playing has simply vanished!! The files are still in the saved game folder, and if i try to create a new character by the same name it says that it is taken. Nothing works and the only option (Ileft it fo about 30 mins and nothing!) was to switch the computer off and reboot. THe nature of the crash is a little strange as the screen just freezes and the sound just makes a repetitive and really annoying thudding. I'm happily playin LOD v1.12 with a regular expansion character and the game crashes, forcing me to reboot.
